In mid-November, I met Logan and Ben at North Cary Park to do a special photo session for them. Logan and Ben needed photos to complete an adoption portfolio that they are putting together as they move forward in the adoption process. It has been a long process for them, but each day is getting closer and closer to the day that they will be able to officially start a family together. Logan and Ben have been together for almost 8 years and married for 4. They are one of the rare few people that I shoot that are actually from the area. Logan grew up in Sanford, North Carolina. Most people that I meet and shoot are from all over the country and have just recently moved to the Raleigh area - like myself.

We met on a brisk 34 degree Sunday morning. It was definitely one of the coldest mornings I had experienced in the fall so far and by far the coldest photo session I've had in North Carolina. I made sure to start with some fun prompts that kept Logan and Ben active and moving so that they could stay warm! I was able to bundle up since I wasn't getting my picture taken though. 🤣 Perks of being the photographer! Logan and Ben wanted more prompt based photos rather than posed photos anyways, so we had so much fun with bear hugs, walking, silly kisses, cheesy fall leaf photos, and so much more. Prompting couples rather than posing them can create more natural smiles getting those happy, candid photos. These are the types of photos that are great in an adoption portfolio, as it's a great way for the agency and expecting birth mothers to be able to see what each couple's personality is really like.

I love shooting at North Cary Park, especially on mornings like this one when the park isn't busy. There is a great bridge for photos, greenways, and a perfect open field. It's very versatile and the different backdrops are all pretty close together which makes it easy on everyone. The fall colors were beautiful the morning of our shoot. If I had to guess, it was peak colors that weekend!!

Shared below are some of my favorite shots from Logan and Ben's adoption portfolio photos. ♥
