I LOVE finally meeting my wedding clients in person when we do their engagement photos! It is such a great time to really get to know each other. I will basically be my clients third wheel on their wedding day, so it's important that we get along and enjoy each others company! Melissa booked with me in the fall for her wedding in November and we finally met on a Sunday in December for her and Tylers engagement photos.
Melissa wanted to do her engagement photos at her wedding venue, Walnut Hill in Raleigh, and I absolutely loved the idea! Doing engagement photos at your wedding venue is a great way to plan out wedding photos with your photographer while actually being at the location. We were also able to see how the lighting will be right around their ceremony time which was great for planning ahead.
Walnut Hill is a gorgeous wedding venue located in Raleigh, North Carolina. It is a family owned estate wedding venue that provides endless picture-perfect scenery throughout the grounds, including barns, a ponds, rope swings, and beautiful architecture. There are so many options for beautiful ceremony spots and so many amazing spots for wedding party and bride/groom photos. I was able to meet the owner, Amanda, and she is so sweet. I am so excited to photograph Melissa and Tylers wedding in November!
Like many couples of this day and age, Melissa and Tyler met on a dating app, and the rest is history! They are so sweet together!! They told me that they weren't great in front of a camera, but they did amazing! They were so relaxed and were open to all of my silly prompts to get those natural smiles and laughs.
My husband and partner in crime, Henry, helped with this shoot as he does for many shoots. We decided to take some video footage and put together a little reel from their engagement photos. This was the first time Henry has ever shot video & the first time I've edited video content for client work, but it turned out alright! We are deffintely not videographers by any means but we had fun with it and am excited to continue doing this for my engagement sessions!
We were lucky with beautiful weather on a December day for these photos! Back in Wisconsin, we would have been freezing trying to take photos during this time of year. We had beautiful sunshine and were able to capture some amazing golden hour shots. Melissa's birthday was also a few days after the session, so that was a fun bonus!
